Communication and Assertiveness Mental Health Video: Master Communication and Assertiveness Training Skills

By Jef Gazley, M.S., LMFT ©1998, Re-edited and re-mastered digitally ©2006

Communication and Assertiveness Mental Health Video TapeCommunication and assertiveness mental health video: The art and skill of effective communication and the ability to be appropriately assertive is the best way to ensure that your relationships are satisfying and lasting. As important as love is, it is not what determines whether a couple stays together. It is effective partnership skills that help ensure that love will last. This communication and assertiveness training educational video can help teach those skills to you. These communication skills also have general application to any relationship and conflict resolution situations. Develop better business relationships and closer friends today.

This communication and assertiveness training video is geared towards both the general public and the mental health professional. The first part of the training is didactic. The power of emotions is delineated and the problem of how that energy builds is discussed. It describes in detail the elements and principles of Assertiveness Training. It defines the difference between aggressive, passive-aggressive, and assertive behavior and identifies the four aspects of assertiveness. The second part of the educational video teaches the art of active listening. Paraphrasing and validating are demonstrated through a role-playing demonstration.

This communication mental health video, just like the other educational mental health videos in this series, has been designed to appeal to individual clients or families who have problems with communication, as well as the mental health clinician in the field who is interested in learning more about relationships and communication and how to teach it effectively. All videos by Jef Gazley, MS, LMFT are fully accredited by NBCC as continuing home study education CEUs (Continuing Education Units) for counselors. The other self-help videos in the series include Dysfunctional Families, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Boundaries, Codependency, Chemical Dependence, Love Addiction and Parenting. This video is also available in DVD. VHS PAL format available only by request. Allow 4-5 weeks for delivery of a PAL format video.
