My name is Margaret Roe but I've been called "Gigi" my entire life by family, friends and mostly everyone else in the free world. Truth be told some people on my wedding day were even surprised to find out my "real" name. I have been in the counseling field in some way, shape or form for about seven years and have enjoyed working with a variety of people in different settings.
I received my B.A. in Psychology from Stockton State College, NJ back in 1992 and my Master's degree in Counselor Education from Kean University, NJ in 1999. I have been a stay at home mom for a few years raising two children. During this time I have also finished my requirements for my counseling license and am a Licensed Professional Counselor (NJ LPC# 37PC00314900 - License Verification). I have also taught two semesters of Abnormal Psychology at a local university as an adjunct professor and have really enjoyed that experience. My latest venture is private practice work in Chester, NJ and counseling services online, better known as internet therapy.
There can be many times during life when we need the help of others for guidance. We may be experiencing a crisis or just feel that the way things are going are just not working for us any more. Life is too short to continue this way and something needs to be done. I believe that change can happen in a safe, non-judgmental environment conducive to positive growth; counseling provides that space. I will walk with you, beside you, exploring different avenues, discovering together what is best for you as a unique individual. I believe in helping to empower you to develop healthier ways and better choices. I believe that we can work together on your goals and you will see measurable results.
Aside from being able to provide counseling, many years of my experience have included working in the clinical setting with many of whom were diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and severe depression. I specialize in answering questions pertaining to mental illness. If you or a loved one has questions surrounding a diagnosis and/or treatment, I'd be happy to provide support and information. However, specific questions on medications are best dealt with your physician, psychiatrist, and/or pharmacist. I look forward to hearing from you.
