An only child of elderly parents, I was raised in an environment of "enoughness" and love. As a child-bride at the age of 16, I depended on my "Southern up-bringing" and solid family values to create a similar atmosphere for my husband, and later, our three sons.
At the age of 25, I began my higher-education experience, and graduated with honors both on the Bachelors as well as Masters levels. I hold a BS Degree in Sociology and also a Paralegal Certification. On the Masters level, I graduated with a MS Degree in Psychology with a Clinical Emphasis. That same year, (1990), I was divorced after 20 years of marriage. After working under the supervision of a MO Licensed Psychologist for three years, I obtained Missouri Licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor. I assumed the existing practice upon her retirement. I have now been in private practice with my main office in Joplin, Missouri for the past 18 years.
I recently re-married, and I am also looking to change the face of my practice to better accommodate the changes of my life. After giving this matter deep thought and consideration, I believe internet counseling may hold the answers I seek. This decision led me to research the possibility of providing on-line counseling, and consequently I made a connection with Jef at AskTheInternetTherapist.com.
And as they say: This is my story.
