Product Description
Do you lack communication skills? Do you tend to fight rather than talk with your boss, children, or spouse? If so you are not alone. The communication training we receive as children is at best inadequate and often is characterized by abusive modeling. Most people believe that if they try to bring up an issue it will result in a fight, but talking about important issues does not have to be frightening and does not have to result in fighting.
This educational DVD is composed of two sections. The first section is a clear didactic presentation of what emotions are and how they affect people when they are repressed. A detailed presentation of assertiveness training, effective negotiation, and conflict resolution follows. The last part is a role-playing demonstration of a couple attempting to resolve a disagreement.
The other self-help DVDs in the series includes: Dysfunctional Families, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Healthy Boundaries, Love Addiction, Chemical Dependence, Codependency, and Parenting. Each DVD in this series describes in detail a major psychological and behavioral problem. The signs and symptoms of each disorder are delineated and solutions to those problems addressed.

A review by a therapist about this psychology video:
"In this DVD, Jef delineates the differences between the 3 types of communication: assertive, aggressive and passive-aggressive. He relates in a clear, concise manner, discussing boundaries and the learned behavior of what was modeled for us in our family system. Jef's communication skills are indeed outstanding, as this DVD clearly illustrates."
