Tara Bulin, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker: depression, anxiety, phobias, stress, employment concerns, life transitions and adjustments, marital and relational issues, pregnancy related illness, and parenting issues.
Hi! My name is Tara Bulin, LCSW (License # 080481), and I am a licensed social worker in the state of New York. I am also a doctoral candidate at the Adelphi University School of Social Work.
First, I want to acknowledge that most times, the first step toward anything (whether it be treatment, recovery, and/or personal goals) is usually the most difficult step. I want to validate that for you and let you know that by entering this site and considering therapy, you have already taken that first step. Let me assist you and guide you on your journey to healing and recovery.
Over the past 10 years, I have supported and guided numerous individuals who have struggled with a variety of concerns similar to what you may be currently experiencing. These concerns may include: depression, anxiety, phobias, stress, employment concerns, life transitions and adjustments, marital and relational issues, pregnancy related illness (specifically hyperemesis gravidarum and severe nausea and vomiting), and parenting issues. I have worked primarily with adults of various backgrounds, and have also spent a significant period of time working with active duty service members, their partners, and veterans. I provide an empathic, supportive, and nurturing therapeutic experience in which together, we identify primary issues, develop a mutually agreed upon treatment plan, and work to achieve emotional balance, healing, and recovery. Our therapeutic alliance will be both educational and solution focused.
If you have a history of trauma (both acute/PTSD and developmental), I am here for you and I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. When working with individuals that have experienced trauma, I emphasize the building of a supportive, therapeutic relationship. My approach is a solution focused, three pronged approach that includes: the provision of in depth education regarding trauma and its effects, the development of grounding techniques and cognitive-behavioral strategies, and the implementation of a trauma processing therapy. A holistic style is key, and therefore, the unison between the mind, body, and spirit is taken into consideration during our work together. The use of expressive arts (e.g. - music, journaling, and/or art) is also encouraged. Please see my article below for a more detailed description.
I have a flexible schedule, including weekends; and I am happy to find a time that will be most accommodating to you. I practice using the following mediums: telephone, audio and visual (Skype), chat, and email therapy. I also have an office in Nassau County, New York if you prefer a face to face therapy session.
I am looking forward for us to work together so that your road to recovery can begin.
